stock

In the kitchen
my stock is brewing, 
 the scraps from the kitchen
celery, carrots, parsley, a steaming
 broth of life's
left overs 
makes me know
we will survive
whatever comes:
the idea is to make soup
every week, pulling up the
recipes from long ago: split pea, lentil
black beans, chicken
it all works and leaves us 
with enough 
to share.
